For years now, we’ve been talking about doing a Philebrity Awards, and this year, after a lot of thought and consultation from staffers, contributors and friends, we’ve finally gone and done it. Since this is our first time out, there are bound to be things we’ve overlooked — Philebrity covers a diverse array of Philly topics, day in and day out — but the categories and nominees get to the heart of of most of what we love about this city. Below, you’ll find nods to the worlds of food, arts and music, non-profits, the soul of the city, its businesses, and its people. And of course, it wouldn’t be us without at least one “award” indicating eternal damnation and condemnation from the city itself. It’s called “Excommunication,” it’s the last one down, and at the Philebrity Awards Show & Xmas Pageant on Thursday, December 10th at the Trocadero, it will be delivered by two Irishmen dressed up as priests.
