Troupe of the Traveling Pants
“Super Terrific Summer Comedy People Party Fun Time Exciting Show”
Brian Kelly wants to get into your pants. Him, and 11 of his best friends. Kelly and co. head up the offbeat comedy troupe Secret Pants, which will be taking the Khyber this Friday in its first headlining gig. “Super Terrific Summer Comedy People Party Fun Time Exciting Show” mixes live sketch comedy with video, some of which is viewable on the group’s Web site. “We’ve watched some of our favorite comedians like Eugene Mirman, H. Jon Benjamin, Brendon Small, Slovin and Allen and Demetri Martin take that stage,” says Kelly. “It’s great to be a part of that company.” The troupe, which formed through a sketch-writing class at Temple University, cites influences that run the gamut from Mr. Show to David Sedaris — influences that leave audiences both thinking and laughing. No cow is too sacred: The troupe tackles everything from drugs and abortion to religion and pop culture. Just the sort of kids you want to bring home to Mom.
